What 𑁪 means
It means four when a digit’s place sets its value.
Brahmi numerals appear in inscriptions from the 3rd century BCE, including cave inscriptions, and on coins. Their forms changed over time. Their exact origin remains unsettled as of 2026; a link to Kharosthi numerals has been proposed, but Kharosthi has not been established as their source.
Before place-value notation, the earlier additive Brahmi system had no zero: each sign contributed its value regardless of position. Later Brahmi numerals used place value, and their forms contributed to Gupta and Nagari numeral forms.
Specialist and historical; it belongs in Brahmi writing and historical numeral examples.
For an ordinary modern four, use 4.

1Why does 𑁪 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
