What 𑁌 means
It divides passages above clauses and verses.
Dots and lines divide smaller units; a danda, a vertical punctuation mark, delimits clauses or verses.
How does the crescent bar fit Brahmi's history?
Brahmi’s history is older than the manuscript model for this glyph.
King Aśoka's Prakrit (an early Indo-Aryan language) edicts used Brahmi in the 3rd century BCE. A study argues that inscribed pottery at Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka, dated to the beginning of the 4th century BCE, may be earlier evidence. Brahmi later developed regional forms across Central and Southeast Asia.
The encoded punctuation glyph is modeled on Kuṣāṇa- and Gupta-period manuscripts.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𑁌 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
