What 𐠛 means
It marks one syllable within a word, not a complete word.
In Greek inscriptions, its sound value is secure. The script also wrote Eteocypriot, an ancient Cypriot language. As of 2026, its texts remain undeciphered, so this sign has no established word-level translation there.
The syllabary gave one sign to each syllable of Cypriot Greek. It developed from Cypro-Minoan, an earlier Cypriot syllabary used in the late Bronze Age (about 1550–1050 BCE), and was related to Linear B. Inscriptions were chiefly dedications and tomb texts; the Greek alphabet displaced it during the Hellenistic period.
