What ꚕ means
Enter A695 with a Unicode-hex input method. The command depends on your operating system and editor, which must support Unicode text.
What is ꚕ?
It is a historical letter in the Abkhaz Cyrillic alphabet. It represented /ħʷ/, a voiceless throat fricative made with rounded lips.
Its shape comes from Cyrillic Shha, һ, with a hook added to the left leg.
Chochua’s 1909 alphabet, prepared for school and literary writing, is the earliest clear written evidence for this form. Abkhaz writing used Georgian script in 1938–1954, then returned to Cyrillic in 1954. Modern Abkhaz uses Ҳә for the corresponding sound.
A historical, specialist letter; its appearance is drawn by the font.
It is a letter, not emoji artwork; do not read it as ordinary Cyrillic һ.

1Questions people ask
1Why does ꚕ show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Cyrillic Extended-B block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
