What 𐚾 means
As of 2026, A513 has no securely established reading on its own.
Linear A remains undeciphered as a whole. Context can suggest names, goods, or accounting terms, and Linear B comparisons offer clues for some signs; neither gives A513 a dependable Minoan translation. A513 is a catalogue label, not an ancient word.
Why did Minoan scribes use Linear A?
It kept records of goods, transactions, and people.
Linear A is attested mainly on Crete during the Bronze Age, c. 1800–1450 BCE, with finds across the Aegean, mainland Greece, and Asia Minor. Scribes marked clay tablets, roundels, and sealings—small clay objects stamped with seals—to track goods, transactions, and personnel.
During the Neopalatial period, a later phase of palace culture on Crete, writing also appeared on stone vessels, metal objects, and other items tied to ritual or status. Cretan Hieroglyphic was another early Cretan script; Linear B came later and drew on Linear A, but its sound values cannot be transferred straight back to A513.
This is a specialist script sign, encountered in historical or scholarly contexts.
Do not assign A513 a guessed Minoan word or sound.

1Why does 𐚾 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Linear A block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
