What 𐝎 means
The exact fraction value of A711 X is unsettled. Montecchi proposed 9/20 in 2013; Corazza et al. tentatively proposed 1/12 in 2021 if X represents two A signs. “X” is a catalogue label, not a confirmed pronunciation.
Where does A711 fit into Linear A’s history?
Linear A probably developed on Crete before Linear B.
Linear A’s earliest records cluster around Phaistos, a Cretan town, in the first palace period (19th–18th centuries BC). It spread across Crete and the Aegean, appearing in store accounts and sanctuary dedications. Linear B later adapted it to write Greek and took over administration; the last known Linear A inscription dates to about 1350 BC. A711’s first date and later meaning remain unknown as of 2026.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𐝎 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Linear A block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.

𐝎\1074EWhy is 𐝎 a box on my screen?
fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
