What means
Plain Albanian d. It is distinct from nd (n plus d) and dh, like English voiced “th” in “this.”
Where was Todhri used?
Around Elbasan, in church and everyday writing.
An Elbasan notebook dated 1 January 1780 is the earliest reported example. The script takes its name from “teacher Todhri,” the nickname of local teacher Theodor Haxhifilipi; whether he invented it or brought it to Elbasan is uncertain. Church hymns and merchants’ accounts and letters survive.
In 1854, Johann Georg von Hahn proposed ancient Phoenician origins; in 1883, Leopold Geitler linked Todhri’s forms to Greek and Roman cursive handwriting. By 1900, Parthenius reported that newer Albanian alphabets were displacing it.

1Why does show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
