What 𐖳 means
It writes the /s/ sound in Albanian.
Naum Veqilharxhi devised Vithkuqi between 1824 and 1845 as a school alphabet for Albanian, avoiding the religious associations of Greek, Latin, and Arabic scripts used by Albanians of different faiths. His 1844 primer expanded in 1845 and inspired spelling books in Albania and Bulgaria. Latin became the standard after the 1908 Manastir Congress. As of 2025, Vithkuqi was also seeing artistic revival, including tattoos.
In modern Albanian text, 𐖳 reads as historical or stylized; standard spelling uses Latin s.
