What ⣾ means
Alone, it has no fixed reading. ⣾ marks dots 2–8 in one cell. A Braille code and neighboring cells determine its value in a sequence.
A screen font draws it; a Braille display or embosser raises dots for tactile reading.
Braille was made for fingertip reading
In 1821, Charles Barbier demonstrated a raised twelve-dot system at a Paris institute for blind students. By 1824, Louis Braille simplified it to six dots read under one fingertip.
He published it in 1829, extending Braille to music and other notation. Unicode includes eight-dot patterns such as ⣾.

Questions people ask
1Why does ⣾ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
