What 𐊿 means
A w-like consonant. Scholars transcribe 𐊿 as w and reconstruct its sound near /w/, like the start of English “water.” “UU” is its catalogue name, not a guide to pronouncing two u vowels.
Where was Carian writing used?
In western Anatolia and Egypt. The oldest surviving Carian text is on an Egyptian object linked to Isis, an Egyptian goddess, and dates to the second half of the seventh century BCE. Carian writing also survives in tombs, graffiti, and decrees. The Carian alphabet is related to Greek, though similar letter shapes can represent different sounds.
Why do Egyptian Carian texts run right to left?
Writing direction varied by region. Carian texts in Caria run left to right; those in Egypt usually run right to left. Unicode lays these characters out left to right by default, so displaying an Egyptian line in its historical direction may require separate text-direction settings.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𐊿 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
