What ⋺ means
It marks a specialized containment relation. The long stroke distinguishes it from the ordinary contains or superset sign, but the stroke alone does not tell you how a notation system uses it.
The broader containment notation is documented in the French mathematician Joseph Gergonne’s work of 1816–17. The exact character ⋺ appears in an ISO mathematical-character listing by 1999, alongside related element-of and contains variants.
Formal and highly specialized; it belongs in defined mathematical notation.
Do not read ⋺ as ordinary unless the notation says they match.

1Why does ⋺ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
