What 𐋯 means
It belongs to a separate Coptic numeral system.
Coptic is the historic Egyptian language used by its Christian community. Epact numerals took shape in Egypt in the 10th century for administration and commerce; their signs are considered to derive from quick, handwritten Coptic letter forms.
Ordinary Coptic numerals instead assigned values to letters. Epact signs appear in accounts, astronomy, calendars, and manuscript page numbers; Arabic scholars also call them zimām numerals (“register letters”).
Values add up largest first, so 𐋯𐋡 means 61. The sequence stays left to right inside Arabic text. Some scholars think this system influenced Rumi/Fasi numerals, another system found in Spain and Morocco.
Questions people ask
1Why does 𐋯 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
