What 𒀳 means
A plough, especially a seed-plough.
Its plough picture appears in Uruk IV, an early writing phase at the Mesopotamian city of Uruk, around the end of the fourth millennium BCE. Proto-cuneiform was an early accounting script; its records included cultivation.
In Akkadian, an ancient Mesopotamian language, epinnu means “plough.” By the first millennium BCE, MUL.APIN (“Plough Star”) named a Babylonian astronomy compendium.
Historical and scholarly; add a gloss for general readers.
APIN alone is the plough; MUL supplies its star reading.

Questions people ask
1Why does cuneiform sign apin look different?
Cuneiform fonts can follow historical periods. Unicode 16.0.0 says its reference drawings are not mandatory outlines, so the same character may look different across fonts.
