What 𒀷 means
It names the poplar tree and its wood. In Sumerian, an ancient Mesopotamian language, the sign worked as a word-sign: one written sign could stand for a whole word instead of spelling an alphabetic sound.
Its listed attestation runs from Early Dynastic I–II through Hellenistic records; Early Dynastic I–II is an early period in Mesopotamian history. Akkadian, another ancient Mesopotamian language, gives ṣarbatu as a dictionary equivalent for the same poplar word; ASAR₂ is an alternate reading in this sign tradition.
