What 𒍴 means
It has no single English translation by itself. Sign lists give six readings—dag₃, dak₃, daq₃, par₇, tak₃, taq₃—and one table pairs dag3 with KIB. Cuneiform signs can write words or sounds; the tablet’s language and neighboring signs settle the reading.
Cuneiform began as administrative record-keeping, including tracking goods. The earliest known tablets from its proto-cuneiform, or early-script, stage are associated with Uruk’s Eanna IVa level in the late fourth millennium BC. That dates the script’s beginnings, not this sign.
A historical sign read through its tablet context.
