What 𒈱 means
In Sumerian, murgu₂ means “shoulder” or “back.”
Sumerian is an ancient Mesopotamian language. Its records span Early Dynastic IIIb through the Hellenistic era (centuries after Alexander the Great). Murgu₂ also names a date palm’s central leaf rib, a land parcel, or a boat part; peš-murgu₂ means “date-palm spine.”
Why does 𒈱 look different in different fonts?
The Unicode chart’s sample is not a required font shape.
Cuneiform fonts may draw signs differently. In a scholarly edition, a transliteration (a sign’s reading written with Latin letters) and neighboring signs help identify it.
In chat, treat it as cuneiform or decoration until context clarifies intent.
Don’t read “shoulder” as a personal reaction without context.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𒈱 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
