What ⫬ means
Negation denies a statement or condition. For example, negating “the number is even” gives “the number is not even.” That is the idea behind a mathematical not sign.
⫬ is a specialized member of this family of signs. When reading or transcribing a formula, preserve the two-stroke character and check the author's definition before replacing it with : their connection does not make them interchangeable.

Questions people ask
1Why does ⫬ show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Supplemental Mathematical Operators block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
