What ⴋ means
It is the older-script counterpart of modern Georgian მ. Asomtavruli Ⴋ is the corresponding uppercase form in the earlier ecclesiastical writing system.
Nuskhuri developed from Asomtavruli as a quicker hand for handwritten books. Its angular letters could be written without lifting the writing tool. The Sinai Homiliary, a handwritten Georgian religious text, is the earliest known Nuskhuri inscription, dated 864 AD; that date belongs to the surviving script record, not necessarily to this individual letter.
Asomtavruli and Nuskhuri were paired in Khutsuri, the older church-writing tradition; modern Mkhedruli became the everyday script. Today ⴋ points to historical Nuskhuri, especially liturgical or heritage use. The Unicode reference chart gives one shape; fonts can draw the letter differently.
Historical and specialist: ⴋ marks Nuskhuri, associated with liturgical writing or deliberate heritage styling.
For ordinary modern Georgian, use მ unless Nuskhuri styling is deliberate.

Questions people ask
1Why does ⴋ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
