Is 𐌴 related to a rune?
Only through a debated link between their names.
The Gothic alphabet took shape in the fourth century CE for Bishop Wulfila’s Bible translation, mainly following Greek models; some letter shapes may also reflect Latin or runes. Some surviving Bible manuscripts are copies from the sixth century CE.
A letter-name list from around 800 records eyz. Scholars tentatively connect it with Gothic *aiƕs (“horse”) and *ehwaz, an inferred name for the Elder Futhark e-rune ᛖ. This debated name link does not prove that the rune shaped 𐌴.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𐌴 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
