What 𞲬 means
It marks the end of an amount, not a number value.
After large totals, clerks set it above the last numeral's horizontal stroke. Optional, it sealed spare space against additions.
How did Siyaq reach South Asia?
It grew from Arabic-script number writing.
Abjad gave letters number values; Siyaq shortened Arabic number words. South Asian forms used local terms such as lakh and crore for higher orders. The oldest surviving evidence for the wider tradition is in Baghdad financial accounts dated 918–19. In South Asia, Siyaq was common under Mughal rule by the 17th century and continued into the mid-20th century, often in Urdu, Persian and multilingual records.

1Why does 𞲬 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Indic Siyaq Numbers block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
