What 𐚮 means
“A414-VAS” labels the shape group. As of 2026, no Minoan reading is secure for this individual sign.
Linear A probably arose on Crete; its earliest evidence is mainly at Phaistos in the First Palace period (an early palace era, 19th–18th centuries BCE). Clay archives tracked goods; formulaic sanctuary inscriptions seem ritual. In the Second Palace period (17th–15th centuries BCE), it spread across Crete and the Aegean.
Cretan Hieroglyphic, an older Cretan script, overlapped with Linear A; their relationship remains debated, though a 2022 study argues Linear A adapted it. Later Linear B shared many Linear A syllable signs and was used to write Greek.

1Why does 𐚮 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
