linear a sign a572

Linear A Sign A572

236/341

𐛫 is a composite Linear A sign with no secure reading; as of 2025, Linear A remained undeciphered. The script was used on Crete around 1800–1450 BCE for palace records and inscriptions on ritual or practical objects; those dates describe the script, not this individual sign.

What 𐛫 means

They show how catalogues group signs, not what any sign says.

SigLA, a catalogue of Linear A signs, records A572 as AB100 plus A313c. The Unicode sign chart lists 𐙇 (A100–102) and 𐙥 (A313C) as components; SigLA uses the label AB100 for the first one. Some Linear B signs share shapes with Linear A, but resemblance alone does not establish the same reading.

Questions people ask

1

Why does 𐛫 show as a box on some devices?

Not every system ships a font for the Linear A block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
