What 𐜉 means

As of 2026, A608 has no secure standalone reading.

Linear A, the Minoan script, is attested by Middle Minoan IIA, a phase of Bronze Age Crete; records are clearer in Middle Minoan IIB, and Linear A became predominant in Late Minoan I. This timeline dates the script, not A608's individual first appearance. Cretan Hieroglyphic, another Cretan script, is considered a major source for many Linear A signs, though the exact relationship remains debated. Linear B later borrowed much of Linear A's sign repertoire. Linear A was used chiefly on Crete, with finds also across the Aegean, mainland Greece, and Asia Minor.

Linear A served palace bookkeeping on clay tablets, small roundels (clay discs), and sealings (clay objects stamped to mark goods). It also appears on offering tables, vessels, and metal objects. Some signs represented syllables; others stood for whole words, called logograms. Catalogue notes differ on A608's construction: Unicode pairs A302 with AB007, while SigLA writes AB302 alongside AB07. These are component descriptions, not a confirmed reading.

Why is Linear A Sign A608 a box?

Your app's font may not include Linear A.

Unicode stores a character separately from the font drawing it. If the app's font lacks Linear A coverage, it may show an empty box or fallback mark even though the text still contains A608. A font with Linear A coverage is needed to display the sign.
