What 𐜣 means
It identifies a catalogue entry; it does not decode the sign.
The earliest documented Linear A records come from Crete’s First Palace period (the era of its first palace centers; 19th–18th centuries BCE), especially around Phaistos. Records appear across Crete and the Aegean through the 18th–14th centuries BCE. They track goods and storehouse movements; formulaic offering-table texts point to ritual use.
Linear A is historically linked to Cretan Hieroglyphic, another script from Crete, and to later Linear B, which adapted much of its sign repertoire to write Mycenaean Greek. If a font lacks Linear A support, 𐜣 may appear as an empty box.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𐜣 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Linear A block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
