What 𐂠 means
It identifies agrimi horn rather than horn in general. Linear B officials used ideograms—signs for words or materials—in palace accounts. This one marks horn from the Cretan wild goat called the agrimi.
Linear B developed from the older Linear A script and was adapted to write an early form of Greek, probably around the 15th century BC. Palace officials used it for bookkeeping. The earliest surviving tablet group, from Knossos, is often dated to the beginning of the 14th century BC, though some scholars place it at the end of the 15th century BC.
Tablets from Knossos and Pylos record horn used in palace crafts, including dagger parts, chariot harness, furniture and leather goods. The written word ke-ra means “horn” but does not name the animal. 𐂠 is the separately identified ideogram for agrimi horn.
