What 𝋫 means
One dot adds 1 to two bars worth 5 each.
The Maya number system uses base 20, so it counts in twenties. In the Long Count, a calendar that tracks days by place, one step is 1820 360 days, near a solar year, rather than 2020 400. A digit’s place tells its unit, so 𝋫 can mark eleven of them. Digital text treats 𝋫 as a whole numeral; larger numbers need separate numeral characters arranged by place.
Point-and-bar numerals are attested elsewhere in Mesoamerica by 600 BCE. Maya scribes developed a positional form within this regional tradition. After 900 CE, Mixtec and Mexica (Aztec) notation often used dots and rarely used bars.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𝋫 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Mayan Numerals block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
