What 𐧈 means
𐧈 is the Meroitic numeral nine. Cursive grew in Kush as Egyptian writing receded, drawing partly on Demotic, an Egyptian cursive script. Later, Meroitic Hieroglyphic drew on Egyptian hieroglyphs.
The earliest dated Cursive text is from about 200 BCE; less developed inscriptions suggest the script began in the third century BCE. Short texts include accounts and funerary labels.
After the fourth century CE, Meroitic gave way to Nubian. By the sixth century, Coptic writing for Egyptian replaced Meroitic, borrowing three Cursive signs for Nubian.
