What 𐧇 means
It means eight in the Meroitic numeral system.
Meroitic writing served the Kushite kingdom, centered in what is now Sudan. The script appears around the third century BCE; that dates the writing system, not this digit's first known inscription.
Where did Meroitic numerals come from?
They draw on Ptolemaic Demotic, a cursive Egyptian script.
Meroitic Cursive handled commercial and administrative writing; its hieroglyphic form appeared on royal and religious monuments. Numerals used signs one through nine plus rank signs for larger values. Meroitic reads right to left, and fonts draw the sign differently. After the fourth century CE, Meroitic writing gave way to Nubian and later Coptic.
Historical and specialist outside a Meroitic text.
Alone, it may read as a script sample, not a number.

1Questions people ask
1Why does 𐧇 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Meroitic Cursive block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
