What 𐧁 means
It is the Meroitic numeral for two. Meroitic cursive was the general-use script for the language of Kush, a kingdom in the Nile Valley. Another Meroitic form, based on Egyptian hieroglyphs, appeared on royal monuments and temples. The cursive form drew on Demotic, a cursive way of writing Egyptian, and ran right to left.
Meroitic numbers were written only in cursive. They recorded quantities and measurements in administrative, funerary, and monumental settings, as well as in dates. After the fourth century CE, Nubian gradually replaced Meroitic; by the sixth century CE, Coptic had superseded the Meroitic scripts and incorporated three additional Meroitic cursive signs to write Nubian.
Why does 𐧁 show as a box?
The font may not contain this character. A box can mean the font lacks a glyph for it; Meroitic text may also need complex-text layout support. The display problem does not change which character is in the text.
