What 𐞔 means
Use the dedicated modifier character 𐞔.
A Unicode character picker or an IPA transcription tool with modifier input can insert it as its own character. A word processor's superscript button on ʛ changes its appearance but leaves the full-size ʛ underneath.
What does 𐞔 mean?
It marks the superscript form of the IPA consonant ʛ.
ʛ is the IPA letter for a voiced uvular implosive: a consonant made at the uvula with inward airflow. In transcription, 𐞔 can indicate a weak or fleeting [ʛ], a neighboring sound colored by [ʛ], or a release involving [ʛ]. The exact reading depends on the transcription around it.
Where did this notation come from?
It extends the IPA's existing consonant notation.
The International Phonetic Association began in 1886 as a pronunciation-teaching project and later expanded into linguistic description, speech science, and clinical work. The 1989 Kiel Convention was a major revision of the IPA. This superscript belongs to that evolving phonetic notation; Unicode records its encoded character, not the notation's beginning.
Specialist notation for phonetic transcription, phonetics, speech science, and clinical language work.
Superscript styling on ʛ does not make 𐞔.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𐞔 show as a box on some devices?
It is recent: Unicode added it in version 14.0 (2021), and phones and computers whose fonts are older than that have nothing to draw it with. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
