What 𐞓 means
It adds an implosive shade to a nearby sound. Full-size ɠ names the consonant; raised 𐞓 is a modifier for incomplete articulation or implosive release.
The IPA’s 1949 notation principles described small-index letters; a 1979 chart showed one marking a sound variant. In 2020, the IPA sought separately encoded modifier characters because font styling can hide phonetic distinctions. A 1978 Niamey project promoted one letter per speech sound; a rejected 1982 African Reference Alphabet draft included ɠ.
Treat 𐞓 as IPA notation, not ordinary prose.
A font-styled ɠ is not the encoded 𐞓.
