What 𐎡 means
It writes the vowel sound i.
This Old Persian vowel sign marks i inside a word instead of standing for a whole word or idea.
When does Old Persian cuneiform first appear?
The earliest known examples are at Bīsotūn, about 520 BCE.
Darius I’s Bīsotūn inscription says he devised a new script for Old Persian; its development may have begun under Cyrus II, before those surviving examples.
Its wedge marks resemble Mesopotamian cuneiform, but its sign set is distinct. The sign for l in foreign names is thought to be its only borrowing, from Elamite or Neo-Babylonian cuneiform, two writing traditions also used on royal inscriptions.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𐎡 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
