What ⟄ means
A superset contains another set.
Unicode's name gives no formula, so follow the paper, textbook, or formal system using it.
When did ⟄ enter Unicode?
In 2003, a mathematical-publishing request led to paired “bounded subset” and “bounded superset” marks. The cited example used the subset; regular notation called for its matching superset.
In 2004, Unicode accepted the pair as open subset ⟃ and open superset ⟄.
