What ∿ means
It marks a repeating sine pattern.
A sine wave repeats a smooth rise and fall. Mathematician Aryabhata's half-chord tables date to around 500; a half-chord is half the line joining two points on a circle. Mathematician Hérigone used sin in a 1634 book. In an 1889 engineering paper, W. M. Mordey used a wave mark for a repeating cycle. On equipment, the AC symbol ∿ marks an input; check voltage and frequency. A straight line marks direct current.
Technical, mainly used in diagrams.
Check AC versus DC before connecting a supply.
