What ⩖ means
The design combines two logical OR signs. Each component is a downward-pointing . In logic, ordinary OR, also called disjunction, means that at least one statement is true, including when both are true.
⩖ combines two of those shapes so their strokes cross. This identifies it as a specialized member of the OR family, rather than giving it the same rule as a single . When reading a mathematical text, use the author's definition of this combined operator; the crossing alone does not specify a new calculation.

1Questions people ask
1Why does ⩖ show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Supplemental Mathematical Operators block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
