What ⍟ means
Use an APL-aware editor or keymap.
An APL keymap or APL keyboard layout exposes this specialized glyph; ordinary layouts rarely assign ⍟ to a dedicated key.
What does ⍟ do in APL?
It is APL’s logarithm operator.
⍟x applies the natural logarithm to x. In a⍟b, a is the base and b is the number whose logarithm is taken. APL’s paired * operator handles exponentials.
Where did this APL notation come from?
It grew from notation for describing algorithms.
In 1957, mathematician Kenneth Iverson developed mathematical notation for describing algorithms. The first known publication of the APL idea appeared on August 29, 1960. In 1966, the notation moved into executable APL implementations, where compact symbols such as ⍟ became operators.
Highly technical: in APL, ⍟ marks a logarithm operation.

1Will every font display ⍟ correctly?
No. If a font lacks this technical glyph, it may show a missing character or a shape that looks different. Use a font and tools that support APL symbols.
