⍔ is quad-del, a character from APL, a programming language that uses symbols to express operations. Its design combines a rectangular outline with a downward-pointing triangle. It is one technical character, not a box containing a separately typed triangle.

Text symbol

What ⍔ means

Quad names the box; del names the downward-pointing triangle. APL grew out of Kenneth Iverson’s mathematical notation and uses compact symbols in programs. Quad-del belongs to that symbol vocabulary.

In the APLSF implementation of the language, ⍔ selects unedited input: input accepted without the usual editing step. This is a system-specific role, not an operation to assume in every APL implementation.
