What ⍍ means
⍍ managed files in APL/700.
APL/700 was an early computer version of the APL programming language. Its function created and renamed files and changed their passwords; handled file deletion.
APL began as Kenneth Iverson's mathematical notation, published in 1962; computer implementations followed in 1965–1966. This explains APL's distinctive symbols, but does not date ⍍ itself. As of 2026, Dyalog's reference guide does not list it as a current primitive.
Technical and specific to the historical APL/700 dialect.
Do not assume it is a current command in every APL dialect.
