What 🪑 means
Usually, a chair or an invitation to sit.
In a message about a desk, dinner, or seating, this sitting emoji can stand for “take a seat” or “saved you a chair.” The surrounding words tell you whether it is an object or an invitation.
In flirty or explicitly suggestive chat, 🪑 may carry sexual innuendo. That reading depends on context; don't assume it from a chair sent on its own.
Why are people posting chairs on TikTok?
An inside joke swapped laughing faces for chairs.
In 2021, TikTok creator Anthony Mai encouraged followers to reply with 🪑 instead of a laughing face and flood the comments of the YouTuber KSI. Confusing outsiders was the point: some saw laughter, others saw a furniture delivery.
The viral wave faded within several weeks in 2021. A chair under a funny video can still nod to that joke; it does not make every chair message a laugh.
Literal in seating plans; an inside joke in meme comments.
A lone chair is not enough to infer laughter or sexual intent.
