What ꨡ means
Cham Bba is a Cham consonant letter. It marks a consonant sound within Cham words.
Cham script developed from Brahmi, an early Indian script. The Đông Yên Châu inscription, dated to approximately 350 CE, is early evidence of Indic-style writing for a Southeast Asian language; it does not date Bba.
Cham stone inscriptions recorded temple donations and military victories; Sanskrit also appeared on stone. Later cursive manuscripts carried history, contracts, rituals, medicine, amulets and religious texts. Western Cham communities adopted Arabic-based writing; Eastern Cham communities retained more of the Indic-derived tradition.
