What ꚟ means
It adds an iotified E above a preceding letter. In historical Cyrillic writing, a superscript is a small letter written above the main line. Scribes used superscript letters in abbreviations and to save space.
A specimen of ꚟ appears in the Putjatina mineja, an 11th-century Old East Slavic religious manuscript. The same superscript practice appears in Church Slavonic manuscripts and later specialist editions.
How do I type ꚟ?
Place it immediately after the base character. In text, a combining mark follows the letter it belongs to, even though it displays above that letter. Test the result in a font that supports historical Cyrillic marks.
On its own, ꚟ may appear with a dotted circle or be hard to see. A font without support may show a missing-glyph box.
Is ꚟ the same as ѥ?
No: ꚟ attaches above a base; ѥ stands on its own. They are related forms of iotified E in historical Cyrillic writing, but they occupy different positions in text.
Use ꚟ in historical transcription or specialist typesetting; explain its role in ordinary chat.
ѥ is the standalone letter; it does not attach above another character.
