What 𒑘 means
One eše₃ is a unit for measuring land area. Mesopotamian land measurement reaches back to the fourth millennium BCE. For the Ur III and Old Babylonian periods of Mesopotamian history, a 2024 Unicode proposal gives one eše₃ as about 2.16 hectares.
A tablet from Ur III, a period in ancient Mesopotamia around 2100–2000 BCE, records one eše₃ and four iku alongside GAN₂, the field marker. Iku is another land-area unit; together, these signs express a field measurement. The Unicode sign list also records a curved counterpart with the same eše₃ value, cross-referenced to 𒑘.
