What 🁕 means
It shows five pips on one half and one on the other. Horizontal domino notation encodes orientation; rotation can change the character.
The earliest documented Chinese reference to dominoes reaches the twelfth century. In an 1893 survey, Stewart Culin described Chinese bone tiles whose pip combinations followed dice throws, and proposed they may have served as counters in dice games. Double-six dominoes became established in Europe during the eighteenth century; whether they traveled from China or arose independently remains disputed.
In a game list, read this as a literal tile; elsewhere, surrounding text carries the sender’s intent.
Rotation can change the encoded orientation, even if the physical tile stays the same.

3Questions people ask
1Why does 🁕 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
