What 븛 means
By itself, 븛 does not identify the intended word.
Hangul places a starting consonant, a vowel, and sometimes a final consonant in one block. In 븛, those parts are ㅂ, ㅡ, and ㅀ; the final cluster combines ㄹ and ㅎ.
How do I type 븛?
Use a Korean Hangul input method and enter its parts in order.
Type ㅂ, ㅡ, ㄹ, then ㅎ. The input method joins ㄹ and ㅎ as the final cluster ㅀ and arranges the parts into 븛.
Unicode also allows the syllable as one precomposed character or as an equivalent sequence of jamo, the letters that form Hangul syllables. Text tools may expose or handle these forms differently.
Why are Hangul letters written in blocks?
Hangul arranges the letters of each syllable into one block.
King Sejong introduced the Korean writing system known as 훈민정음 in 1443. Korean speech differed from Chinese, while writing relied heavily on Chinese characters; the new script offered a way to write Korean more directly. In 1446, a book with the same title explained the script’s purpose and design. Those dates describe Hangul’s history, not a separate origin for 븛.
A 2009 linguistic study compares Hangul and Phags-pa as writing systems and notes parallels in how their sounds are organized. That is a system-level comparison, not evidence that 븛 descends from any Phags-pa character.
Neutral and technical: it represents one Korean syllable; neighboring text supplies its word-level context.
Alone, 븛 does not identify the intended Korean word.

Questions people ask
1Why does 븛 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
