What 봧 means
It represents one Hangul syllable; context comes from its word.
It combines three jamo (Hangul letter parts): ㅂ at the start, ㅘ as the vowel, and ㅊ at the end. The Korean word around it determines how the syllable is read and what the word means; Unicode’s “bwac” is a structural label, not an English translation.
Hangul was designed for Korean speech and wider access to writing in Joseon-era Korea. The script is first recorded in 1443, and a guide to it called Hunminjeongeum explained its letters in 1446. This block follows Hangul’s initial-vowel-final pattern.
