hangul syllable caess

Hangul Syllable Caess

챘 has no standalone translation; read the Korean word around it. In 눈치를 챘다, it is a past form of 채다, “noticed” or “caught on.” The spelling trap is 챘다: standard Korean guidance does not use it as a shortcut for 차였다 (“was dumped”).

What 챘 means

Read it inside the full Korean word. In 눈치를 챘다, someone noticed the cue; 낌새를 챘다 means someone sensed a sign. 챘어? asks whether they caught on.

Hangul was first recorded in 1443, and its explanatory book followed in 1446 with a system meant to make Korean easier to read and write. Small jamo lock together into square blocks, and Unicode encodes modern blocks like this one. No separate cultural meaning surfaced in this review on 2026-09-08.

Neutral Korean writing; its tone comes from the sentence, not the block.

As of 2025, 챘다 for 차였다 is not standard.

Why does 챘 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
