What 첿 means
Hangul blocks group letters to write one Korean syllable. The system was designed to write Korean speech directly rather than rely on Chinese characters. Its first recorded mention is a court entry from 1443; a book published in 1446 explained its principles and purpose. Consonant and vowel letters, called jamo, sit together in blocks such as 첿.
