What 츩 means
It is an older spelling of 칡, the Korean word for kudzu. The Korean alphabet was created in 1443; the explanatory book 《훈민정음》 appeared in 1446.
A Korean text from 1466, 《구급방언해》, uses 츩 for the plant. After ㅊ, the older vowel ㅡ shifted toward ㅣ beginning in the 19th century; this change became widespread later that century. 츩 and 칡 are older and modern spellings of the same word.
