What 닦 means
It appears inside Korean words for wiping, cleaning, and honing. Hangul syllables are written as blocks, so 닦 gets its meaning as part of a complete word. 닦다 means to wipe or clean; 실력을 닦다 means to hone a skill.
Hangul's creation and explanatory guide are dated to 1443 and 1446, respectively. It offered a way to write Korean without first mastering Chinese characters. Fonts may space the internal parts of 닦 differently, but the character remains the same.
