What 띀 means
It writes one Korean syllable; its meaning depends on the word. The block joins an initial consonant, the vowel ㅡ, and the final consonant ㅋ.
Hangul’s creation is recorded in 1443; the 1446 book Hunminjeongeum explains its letters and syllable structure. A 2014 study traces spelling for Korean tense consonants, made with a tighter, pressed articulation: clusters or doubled letters in the mid-15th century, clusters built around the Korean letter ㅅ from the late 15th through the 19th centuries, and doubled letters in standard spelling in the 20th century.
